1999 PRISM Summit
T4 - Transforming Tomorrow’s Teachers Today
June 10-11, 1999

Georgetown College Leadership Training Center
Georgetown, Kentucky

Mathematics, Science, Education and other interested postsecondary education Faculty members are invited to the 1999 PRSIM Summit on June 10-11. This event will feature ten Kentucky PRISM T4 projects to transform undergraduate science courses in the standards-based, inquiry-based preparation of new teachers. The event also will feature a keynote panel composed of Dr. Wilmer Cody, Kentucky Commissioner of Education, Dr. Gordon Davies, President of Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE), and Dr. William Schmidt, Executive Director of the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS). Discussions promise to be lively and informative so register early!

While there is no registration fee for the Summit, seating is limited so participants must sign-up using the on-line Registration Form. Registrants are asked to pay for their own travel and overnight accommodations. If you plan to use the convenient on-site overnight facilities (located next door to the conference center) at the Georgetown College Leadership Training Center, please register with KSTC using the on-line Accommodations Form (but plan to make on-site payment directly to Georgetown College).

If you plan to make accommodations elsewhere in the area, please refer to the Georgetown/Lexingon Accommodation Guide.

Abstracts for these ten T4 projects, a listing of earlier PRISM undergraduate projects and a directory of contacts can be found on the Initiatives page of the PRISM website. While most recently T4 projects have focused on science courses, this was due only to the strategic targeting of available resources for maximum impact. T4 fully recognizes the importance of quality mathematics preparation of new teachers. There are a number of quality mathematics efforts underway and our intent is to also celebrate these at the Summit.

This event is sponsored by Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC), with funding from the CPE Eisenhower Math-Science Program and United Parcel Service.

Please don’t hesitate to contact KSTC if you have questions about the 1999 PRISM Summit. Driving directions to the Training Center can be found here.
